Cruzer Palooza Car Show Returns This Weekend

Swap meet, track laps, concerts, burnout contest, food trucks and more

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (May 22, 2018) —Utah Motorsports Campus is celebrating Memorial Day Weekend with the Second Annual Cruzer Palooza Car Show and Swap Meet.

Last year’s inaugural event was very well received, prompting track officials to proceed with the second annual show this weekend, offering even more fun attractions and activities for fans and participants.

“Most car shows are held in a parking lot, or in a large building somewhere,” said Willem Geyer, General Manager of UMC. “When you have a world-class racetrack to host your car show, it opens up a lot of fun possibilities.”

In addition to the car show, the weekend-long event will kick off with a concert on Friday at 7:00 pm featuring the Flashback Brothers to cap off Move-In Day, along with a variety of food trucks and beer sales.

The actual car show runs Saturday and Sunday, along with what is expected to be a much larger swap meet. Gates open at 9:00 am both days. On Saturday, fans can purchase Hot Laps, during which they will get to ride as a passenger in a race car supplied by DXDT Racing, between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon, and from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, at $75/ride. A burnout contest is scheduled for 4:00 pm.

For those who want to drive on the track themselves, UMC is offering its Wide Open Wednesday (called Wide Open Weekend for this event) program on a Saturday for the first time, from 5:30 – 8:00 pm, for $25/car. Drivers will be required to have their car pass a safety inspection, and helmets are required (rental helmets available). The day will end with another concert at 8:00 pm featuring the Tri-Chevys, with beer sales and food trucks available.

The car show will conclude on Sunday, with awards being presented at 2:00 pm, and parade track laps for all entered cars following the awards ceremony.

A Kid Zone will be available for the young fans all weekend, a number of commercial vendors will be onsite and public karting will be available at the UMC Kart Center throughout the event.

Spectator admission is free to all for this event, but there are RV accommodations available for those who would like to spend the weekend onsite.

Utah Motorsports Campus is managing the facility formerly known as Miller Motorsports Park on behalf of Tooele County while the procedures to sell the facility take place.

Mitime Utah Investment, LLC, the parent company of Utah Motorsports Campus, has agreed with the Tooele County Board of Commissioners to an extension of the existing facility management agreement through December 31, 2018.
