Utah MotoAmerica Superbike Championship
The MotoAmerica Championship represents the top level of motorcycle road racing in North America. It serves as our national championship, similar to those run in other countries such as Spain, England, Japan, France, Australia, etc. There are only two steps above a national championship, those being the Superbike World Championship and the MotoGP World Championship.
MotoAmerica and its teams and riders have been a fixture at Utah Motorsports Campus since the track was opened as Miller Motorsports Park in 2006. Many of the world’s top riders and teams have competed here over the years, including such internationally-renowned riders as Mat Mladin, Ben Spies, Josh Hayes, Cameron Beaubier, Toni Elias and many more.
This year’s appearance for MotoAmerica in Utah will take place over the weekend of July 20-22. It will be the sixth round of the 10-round championship, so the title battles should be in full swing. The MotoAmerica Championship of Utah will feature five classes: the headlining Motul Superbike Championship for modified 1000cc bikes; the Supersport Championship for modified 600cc bikes; the Liqui Moly Junior Cup for small-bore sport bikes (replaces the KTM RC Cup series); the Twins Cup (new series for modified twin-cylinder bikes); and the Stock 1000 Championship (for stock 1000cc bikes).
The tentative schedule for the MotoAmerica Championship of Utah includes practice and qualifying on Friday, with free admission for all spectators, with more qualifying and a couple of races on Saturday and the remainder of the races on Sunday.
If you’ve never experienced a top-level Superbike race, you owe it to yourself to see, hear and feel these amazing machines for yourself. The fastest bikes will approach 190-200 mph at the end of the 0.75-mile front straight heading into Turn 1 on our 3.048-mile Outer Course, leaning over so far to grab that last millimeter of traction that they will literally drag their elbow and knee on the pavement. Multiply that image by 25-30 bikes, and you begin to realize the level of excitement that is MotoAmerica Superbikes.
The MotoAmerica Championship of Utah is a family-friendly event, with plenty to do for everyone. There will be autograph sessions with the riders, a variety of yummy food options, lots of displays and vendors and the UMC Kart Center will be open for kart rentals throughout the weekend.
