UMC – Behind the Gates with 180 Ministries

180 Ministries is a faith based, non-profit, long term residential treatment program for women. Our mission is to rescue women from all over and all different backgrounds, give them a safe space to heal, provide hope, and a fresh new beginning to life reconnected back to their loved ones. A life and future walking in the purpose for which they were created, restored, whole, and set free from addiction and other life controlling issues.

Unfortunately, not one of us can really say we don’t know someone that is affected by the paralyzing grip of substance abuse, the repetitive cycle of domestic violence and codependent relationships, the incapacitating dark depths of depression and suicidal ideation or any other life controlling situation. You are not alone! If you are in need of help or know of someone in need of help please reach out to us! We are here to help!

Partnership with UMC
180 Ministries has partnered with UMC for 2 years. We greatly value our partnership with UMC. The ladies in our residential recovery program provide UMC with the maintenance of the property. This is a valuable resource that benefits the ladies in our program to learn job skills to equip them for a successful future in recovery. Not only are they learning everything from lawncare to painting, drywall, track maintenance, event setup, operating equipment etc, but they are also learning essential job relating skills in how to work well with others and navigate through conflict in a healthy way.

UMC has been an integral support to the work that we do and offering hope and a future of life restored. One graduate of our program is now gainfully employed with UMC. She came to us addicted, homeless, and just done with the life she was living stuck in addiction. Upon graduation of our program her life has been restored and to see this smile and success in her life is incredible. She has restored her relationships with her daughters and family, is paying her bills, and has since gotten involved in prison ministry to provide hope and help to others.

How you can help
As a non-profit it is our goal to raise funds for women that are not able to pay for their program, to say YES to every woman in need of help. We can not do this without generous donors that give to our life saving and transformative program. Investing into the life and future of someone you may not know, to provide another chance at life, healing and recovery. Your financial support of our ministry helps us to say YES to the women in need of our help without finances being a barrier.

We have a greenhouse where the ladies get to grow and care for plants that we sell to the community. The ladies have also planted a pumpkin patch that will be open to the community in October. We have a lot of fun, believe in total mind, body and spirit recovery, and work hard to incorporate all aspects of that into our program!

Quote from UMC Executive, Garett Potter:
“To be honest when Jody brought this idea to me, I was very skeptical. I feel bad saying that, but I think it’s important to say for people reading as I know others may have the same thought.

I’m happy to say that my skepticism was very wrong, and our partnership with 180 over the past couple years has been amazing, not only do they deliver high quality work, but the jobs we task them to do which are wide ranging are done in a timely manner, they are extremely dependable always here when they say they will be ready to work, an attribute that is hard to find these days.
And to top it all off they are a great group of people, so respectful to the UMC staff always greeting us with a smile. We encourage any company or individual looking to support a program to look at 180 Ministries, these women are immediately and directly affected by your support and as a bonus you are getting things you need done.
We want to give a special thanks to the women of 180, you are not only inspiring to me, but to everyone here at UMC. Keep pushing forward – you can change the future, let others worry about the past.”
