Utah Motorsports Campus is gearing up for Utah’s biggest off-road racing weekend of the year on August 24-25, when the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series returns for its annual visit!
The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series has become one of UMC’s biggest fan favorites, bringing their 900-hp off-road trucks and buggies to our Off-Road Short Course with lots of jumps, door-banging, crashes and general mayhem. It’s a very family-friendly event, with drivers very willing to meet their fans (especially the kids!) and sometimes even gifting them with an autographed piece of discarded bodywork from their truck!
This year, Utah’s visit from the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series will be even more special, because this will be our first time to race at night, under the lights! Racing is always better at night, and you’ll be able to see the flames, sparks and red-hot brake discs that aren’t as visible during the day, plus the temperatures will be more pleasant!
As a result, we’ll be racing on Friday and Saturday instead of the customary Saturday and Sunday. Gates will open to the public both days at 1 pm, with practice and qualify for nine classes preceding race action. Opening ceremonies and feature races are scheduled for 7 pm, with a full slate of practice, qualifying, and racing scheduled for both days.
Off the track, there is a scheduled driver autograph session scheduled from 4-4:30 pm both days, and the UMC Kart Center will be open for kart and racing simulator rentals. In addition, there will be a variety of food trucks onsite, so we can satisfy your needs for both feed and speed!
If you’ve never witnessed a professional off-road short-course event, you owe it to yourself to check out the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series at UMC! If you have, grab your crowd, get your tix and we’ll see you trackside!
